The whitepaper includes the key points on ESIM technology, its emergence in M2M market and how adoption of this technology will help telcos fight existing and emerging telecom fraud.

M2M – Accelerated growth Opportunities

Growth in the M2M (Machine to Machine) communication in the consumer goods sector is expected to be the most significant technology in the upcoming years. According to Machina Research survey report of strategic market intelligence, the global M2M market will grow up to 27 Billion connected devices which is expected to generate USD 1.6 Trillion revenue in 2024. While telecom operators are already facing rapidly increasing challenges with reduced traditional profits from voice, SMS & data streams, the M2M sphere is simultaneously creating tremendous opportunities across the industry verticals. Although as per the survey mentioned above, M2M accounts only for 2% of cellular data traffic today, the same is expected to increase by 4-5% in next couple of years.  Excellent revenue generation opportunities from the huge volume of data generated from smart devices are letting telecom industry to expand into the M2M segment and utilize their connectivity related infrastructure in various other sectors such as automotive, security, healthcare, retails, media, transport, smart city, etc. Hence the telecom sector accounts for one of the top spender in M2M / IoE (Internet of everything) technology.
